Over the last few years, there has been a resurgence in the bi-compax layout. The chronograph watch with sub-dials placed on a north-south axis has actually been around since the early 20th century but its rebound in popularity has inspired us to create our very own range of classic chronograph watches here at Ryan & Gilbert. The Westminster watch collection is where you’ll find these chronograph watches. Remaining faithful to our company ethos – to create attainable, high quality watches with their very own individual style – these timepieces combine a selection of robust materials, a reliable Japanese quartz movement and a range of different coloured leather straps to explore.
There are many reasons to invest in a chronograph watch. Whether planning to use it for its innovative stopwatch functions or not, chronograph watches have an unmistakable sporty style. Balancing this desirable sporty look with an elegant demeanour, our Ryan & Gilbert chronograph watches make the perfect timepieces to wear every single day of the week and to all eventualities in life. Some of the models from our Westminster watch collection have been finished in a yellow or rose gold rendering to enhance a luxurious and classic look on the wrist. Others adhere to the conventional steel sports watch style that has come to be globally-loved.
With additional features aside from just presenting the hours and minutes of the day, chronograph watches are versatile and practical tools that can assist with a myriad of everyday tasks. While a regular watch only tells the basic time, the added complication of a chronograph watch will enable you to stop, reset and start a new timing as a stopwatch feature when on the go. Whilst there are smartwatches and smartphone apps widely available on the market, nothing will match the enjoyment of owning a classic chronograph watch. Its effortless beauty has stood the test of time and will do for many years to come. Let’s take a look at our Ryan & Gilbert chronograph watches in a little more detail…
Our Westminster watches, like the traditional design of a chronograph, feature a sweep second hand and a minute sub-dial located at 12 o’clock, balanced by a 60-second sub-counter at 6 o’clock. In addition to this, a date feature is nestled at 3 o’clock, enabling you to keep track of all the passing days throughout each month. Located at 2 and 4 o’clock on a 40mm steel case, the Westminster watch features polished push-pieces that allow you to facilitate easy handling over the stop, start and reset functions of the chronograph.
The silver dial of the Ryan & Gilbert Westminster watch is protected under a crystal glass lens treated with anti-reflective and scratch-resistant properties. Crisp black Arabic numerals and a distinct minute track promise easy referencing of the time at a glance. Cleverly, the Arabic numerals fade out at the north and south hemisphere of the dial, encouraging the wearer to focus solely on the chronograph counters. Each steel, rose gold and yellow gold-plated option is available on a black, white, tobacco or brown coloured leather strap. The Ryan & Gilbert lettering at 9 o’clock is balanced superbly by the London reference at 3 o’clock – the location that is both the inspiration to our designs and the home of our Ryan & Gilbert headquarters.
